Other opportunities for intervention within the school environment
Discussions with teachers reveal that there are other opportunities within schools, over and above individual pastoral care and concern, for making some impact on the issue of children who may be affected by parental alcohol misuse.
The key opportunities identified include:
- Within the school curriculum ( see Lesson Plans section )
- Providing Information for children themselves which may help to ensure that the issue at least starts to come out in the open, whether the problem is admitted by the child or not, or identified by staff or not
- Working with children as carers ( see Issues for teachers section )
